Like all Cirque du Soleil artists, the singers we're looking for are dedicated to their art; they have strong personalities and sustained presence. People who enjoy exploring and have a marked interest in improvisation and creation will feel at ease with Cirque du Soleil's varied music.
Singers may come from the most diverse artistic circles and settings. The words to most of our vocal pieces are invented. Singers may also play the role of a character on stage, shaping the pace and the atmosphere of the show with their vocal performance.
What interests us first and foremost is voice quality and the readiness to make artistic suggestions. Solid mastery of technique is a must. There is no age limit.
The pace of 8 to 10 performances a week needs to be given prime consideration. Over a long period, the vocal work required amounts to a kind of high-level acrobatics. While our existing shows are usually accompanied by two voices, they are in different, complementary registers.
For our running productions, we are looking for the following voice types:
Female:
- Mezzo-Soprano
- Soprano
- World Music, Pop/Rock, Traditional
- Young Sopranos (9-12 years of age)
- Singer mastering appoggiaturas from India as well as Pop
- Singer mastering appogiaturas from Eastern Europe (Hungarian, Bulgarian, Romanian, etc.)
Male:
- Countertenor
- All ranges
- World Music, Pop/Rock, Traditional
